Maryville College

About

Maryville College is ideally situated in Maryville, Tenn., between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Knoxville, the state's third largest city. Known for offering its students a rigorous and highly personal experience, Maryville College is a nationally ranked institution of higher learning that successfully joins the liberal arts and professional preparation in partnership with others. Founded in 1819, Maryville is the 12th oldest college in the South and maintains an affiliation with the Presbyterian Church (USA). Total enrollment for the Fall 2018 semester is 1,146. For nearly 200 years, Maryville College has been guided by the motto of our founder, the Rev. Isaac Anderson: “Do good on the largest possible scale.” Throughout our history, the College has remained committed to providing students with opportunities to grow, learn and lead.

Maryville College believes that spiritual exploration and growth are just as important as academic, professional, and emotional growth, both for the college years and beyond. Founded by a Presbyterian minister, we live out our connection to the Presbyterian Church (USA) in many ways, both in and out of the classroom. Maryville College strives to be an appreciating asset in the wider community, and we demonstrate this in a variety of ways: Hosting art and culture events, offering educational programs, assisting with community-based research, and providing volunteers and interns to local businesses, organizations, churches and civic groups. Located on more than 263 acres in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, our setting is perfect for your event — whether it's a banquet, conference, wedding or camp. Come and experience everything we have to offer; the possibilities are endless!
